The Alliance for Responsible Consumer Legal Funding (ARC), a coalition established to preserve access to consumer legal funding for everyday Americans, announced today that a financial education leader, Zynda Sellers, is joining the organization's advisory council.
Sellers will grow ARC's broad coalition of stakeholders which includes academics, civil rights defenders, public policy leaders, and private citizens. She's the first financial education leader to join the advisory council, bringing a new perspective, and expertise she'll employ to help develop the group's first financial literacy program, which will be rolled out later this year.
"We are so pleased to welcome Zynda to our council. Her knowledge and experience will be a huge asset as we advocate for consumers and work to make sure people have all the tools they need to be financially successful," said Robert Johnson, Executive Director of ARC.
Seller's commitment to education was apparent early on. Before attending law school, Ms. Sellers was a public school teacher in the Virginia Beach City Public School System, where she taught English and worked with underprivileged students to improve literacy skills. Her dedication has only grown over her distinguished career.
Sellers, from the Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina area, is the General Counsel for Money Management International (MMI), a tax-exempt 501 (c)(3) organization whose mission is to improve lives through financial education. MMI is an industry leader in not only financial education, but credit counseling, housing counseling, bankruptcy counseling, among other services. Sellers joined MMI in 2007, and provides legal advice on regulatory compliance, contract law matters, and litigation. She earned her J.D. from the George Mason University School of Law.
"I'm excited for the opportunity to contribute. Consumer legal funding can be a vital resource for people after an accident. I'm happy to be working with the council to help them develop resources for consumers—empowering them to use funding wisely," said Sellers.
About ARC
The Alliance for Responsible Consumer Legal Funding (ARC) is a coalition established to preserve legal funding as a choice for the many Americans who have suffered an unexpected economic loss due to an accident and have a pending legal claim. Legal funding can help families pay for immediate personal needs such as rent, mortgages, car repairs, utilities and groceries while they wait for their claims to settle fairly. ARC trade association promotes practices and regulations that lead to informed decisions between individuals and their attorneys, so families have more options—not fewer.
