CompTIA, the nonprofit association for the technology industry, announced today that David Logsdon, senior director of its Space Enterprise Council (SEC), has been appointed to the Department of Commerce International Trade Advisory Committee (ITAC) on Aerospace Equipment.

Logsdon will serve on the ITAC for the duration of the committee's four-year charter term.

The ITAC on Aerospace Equipment advises the Secretary of Commerce and the United States Trade Representative on trade and provides detailed policy and technical advice, information, and recommendations regarding trade barriers, negotiations and implementation of existing trade agreements affecting its sector. Members of ITAC have provided advice on market access, trade barriers, free trade agreements, and other regional and bilateral trade agreements.

“The ITAC’s role is to highlight issues that impact the competitiveness of the American aerospace industry,” said Logsdon. “It is an honor to be appointed to the Committee. I look forward to representing the interests of the American space enterprise to help ensure that America remains the global space industry leader.”

As senior director for public advocacy at CompTIA Logsdon oversees the association’s Space Enterprise Council and the New and Emerging Technologies Committee, which focuses on policies surrounding social, mobile, big data/data analytics, cloud, Internet of Things, smart cities and other emerging tech.

Logsdon was the staff lead for TechAmerica’s federally focused technology convergence commission, which examined the impact on the public sector when social, mobile, analytics, and cloud converge. He was instrumental in the creation of regional big data collaboration hubs, bringing together federal, state and local governments with private industry, non-profits and academia on ways to use big data to address issues of national importance.

Prior to his tenure at TechAmerica, Logsdon ran the Space Enterprise Council, based at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He served on the National Space-Based Positioning, Navigation and Timing Advisory Board, providing independent guidance to the Secretaries of Defense and Transportation on policy, planning, program management and funding profiles in relation to the current state of national and international satellite navigation services. Logsdon also worked at the Aerospace Industries Association where he was second in command for the association’s Space Council. He holds a master’s degree from the George Washington University Graduate School of Political Management in political management and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware in criminal justice. Logsdon is the author of the Brown University Journal of World Affairs article “America’s Aerospace Workforce at a Crossroads.”
