Every time Jaime Schmier took the circle for the Sherwood softball team this season, the right-hander strived to remain perfect.

A senior, Schmier did not endure one loss during her four seasons with the Warriors, and she leaves the program as one of its most accomplished hurlers. She was especially impressive as a junior and senior, winning 40 of the team's 42 games and pitching to an ERA of less than 1.00 for head coach Ashley Barber-Strunk.

This season alone, Schmier accrued a 20-0 mark with 134 strikeouts in 102 innings while pacing the Sandy Spring, Md., school to a fifth straight MPSSAA Class 4A state championship. In the process, she helped extend the program's state record for consecutive wins to 103, a streak that began when Schmier was still in middle school.

Next year, Schmier, a 2016 Washington Post first-team All-Met selection, will look to translate her dominance to the college level at Division III Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, Pa.
