“The location, value, and history of the Columbia House really appealed to us. We knew we could transform the building into Class-A apartments that would attract a variety of residents including those looking to live in the Fan with easy access to major highways, and within walking distance of VCU,” stated Drew Wiltshire, President, Thalhimer Realty Partners.
The Columbia House was originally built as the estate of wealthy businessman Phillip Haxall in 1817. The building was later acquired by the University of Richmond and used for academic purposes. A north addition was built in 1911 and a west wing addition was built in 1924 to house T.C. Williams School of Law, completing the total structure that exists today.
Amenities in the newly renovated building include high-end finishes, original restored hardwood floors, high ceilings, and luxury cook’s kitchens with open-islands, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and designer cabinetry. The units are cable and high-speed internet ready, include washers and dryers in each unit, and are pet-friendly. The historic building has been thoughtfully preserved and renovated. The first residents are expected to move-in July 1, 2016.
