The Washington Capitals traded their No. 26 overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft in order to select 18-year-old defenseman Lucas Johansen with the 28th pick.

The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Johansen played in the Western Hockey League for the Kelowna Rockets for two seasons before he was drafted by the Capitals June 24. Johansen had 11 goals and 46 assists throughout his 134-game regular-season career with the Rockets. Johansen will likely have some work to do before he steps foot on the ice in a Capitals jersey.
