Michael Embry Named President-Elect of NAHU

Michael Embry was recently named to the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU) Board of Trustees as president-elect at the 86th Annual Convention and Exhibition in Albuquerque, NM.

“We are pleased to welcome Mike as NAHU’s president-elect. He is an incredibly passionate individual and he has worked hard to make sure agents and brokers are able to continue ssisting their clients in this new health insurance marketplace,” said Janet Trautwein, NAHU CEO.

With over 30 years in the insurance industry, Embry specializes as an independent agent in health insurance and employee benefits. He worked as the senior account director of Comerica Insurance Services, Inc., an employee benefits planning firm, until purchasing the employee benefits division from Comerica. He is the founder and president of Comprehensive Benefits, Inc. His areas of practice are small group benefits, mid-size group benefits, worksite voluntary benefits and small and mid-size self-funded plans.

Since 1993, Embry has been an active member of NAHU. Before being elected to NAHU’s Board of Trustees, he served as the Region III vice president from 2010 through 2013. Embry is a Soaring Eagle qualifier of the Leading Producers Round Table. Also, he has held numerous leadership positions in Michigan, including president of Michigan Association of Health Underwriterss (AHU), president of Metro Detroit AHU and legislative chair for both Metro Detroit and Michigan AHU as well as Region III HUPAC chair. Embry has been the recipient of the Legislative Achievement Award, the Distinguished Service Award, and annually receives the Triple Crown award since its inception in 2004.

“I look forward to serving the membership of NAHU as a member of the Board of Trustees and continuing to promote the value and importance of the agent,” Embry said.

Embry currently serves on the Southeast Michigan Agent Advisory Council for Priority Health. As a leader in his community, he serves as a member of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Leadership Class. Embry resides in Chesterfield, MI, with his wife, Jeanne, and two adult children, Michael Jr. and Laura.
