There wasn't a lot to learn in the Washington Redskins' preseason opener.
The passing game looked in midseason form, the running game went nowhere and special teams coverage was burned during the Redskins' 23-17 loss at the Atlanta Falcons Aug. 11. It sure looked a lot like last year.
Mostly, it was a solid effort by the starters if ever so brief. The reserves not so much, but then some of them won't be on this team come September.
Quarterback Kirk Cousins completed all five passes for 39 yards during his only drive. He found four different receivers, twice for more than 10 yards. If not for a holding penalty by tackle Morgan Moses, which was a common occurrence last season, the Redskins might have scored before Cousins left.
