Germanna Community College President David Sam announced this morning he will retire after this academic year.
“I feel as though our mission is as important if not more important than ever and to be associated with it is an honor, and a privilege,” he said in an interview. “I want to go out when I can still do the job and I’m still doing the job, and hand off to the next person, next generation.”
Sam is the grandchild of immigrants and a first-generation college student who spent almost a decade traveling around the county and running a business between his bachelor’s degree and beginning to pursue a career in higher education, he said.
