Redskins' Bobby Beathard, Jack Kent Cooke Deserve Hall-of-Fame Consideration

Entry into the Pro Football Hall of Fame is seldom simple.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue were fine recommendations by the contributors committee Aug. 16. Both contributed to the NFL's modern rise.

But what about former Washington Redskins general manager Bobby Beathard and owner Jack Kent Cooke? They built a bigger dynasty than Jones' Cowboys.

What is it that keeps many deserving Redskins players and front office personnel out of the Canton, Ohio, Hall of Fame? It seems the Pittsburgh Steelers get the red carpet treatment off four Super Bowl wins in the 1970s, but few Redskins have entered despite three championships from 1983-91.
