Charles W. “Wick” Moorman, the retired chairman, CEO and president of Norfolk Southern Corp., will go from overseeing cargo freight to ferrying people on the country’s rails starting Sept. 1.
Amtrak announced Friday that Moorman would be its next president and CEO.
“It is an honor and privilege to take on the role of CEO at Amtrak and I look forward to working with its dedicated employees to find ways to provide even better service to our passengers and the nation,” Moorman said in a statement. His selection comes at a tense time between the freight-rail sector and Amtrak.
