- Former hospital executive and Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt joins growing healthcare division -

Rosen, Sapperstein & Friedlander, LLC (RS&F), a business consulting and accounting firm, today announced it has hired Hemik Patel, MHA, CLSSBB, CPHQ, PMP as a senior healthcare consultant for its healthcare division, RS&F Healthcare Advisors (RSFHA).

Patel earned his Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (CLSSBB) from the American Society for Quality. As a CLSSBB, Patel can explain Six Sigma philosophies and principles, including supporting systems and tools. He has a thorough understanding of all aspects of the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control (DMAIC) model in accordance with Six Sigma principle and uses DMAIC to improve, optimize, and stabilize business processes and designs. With his CLSSBB, Patel produces the following results for healthcare facilities: reduced waste, increased cost savings, better bottom-line results, improved company and process efficiency, increased patient satisfaction, and smarter business decision making. RS&F will bring this capability to middle-market physician practices and healthcare organizations.

Patel will support physician practices and other healthcare organizations as they improve and reorganize their infrastructure and enhance organizational practices to operate most efficiently. He will analyze key predictive indicators, patient workflow operations, market capture, IT operations, revenue models, and human capital. Patel will next use that information to determine methods of increasing revenue, reducing expenses, and improving operational efficiency. Finally, he will work with clients to help implement the suggested changes.

Patel joins RSFHA from MedStar Washington Hospital Center, where he served as director of ambulatory operations, medicine, and medicine subspecialties. He has over 10 years of experience in healthcare and specializes in healthcare management, physician relations, process improvement, and operations management. In this role, Patel provided operational leadership to the Department of Medicine, which included over 200 providers and a variety of medical subspecialties in off-site regional locations. Managing a budget of more than $100 million, he led a team consisting of residents, fellows, RN’s, nurse managers, medical office assistants, medical assistants, and schedulers. Patel has also worked as the director of operations of MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center, as administrative director of Medics USA Medical Center, and served as an administrative resident at Dominion Hospital.
