Three community banks are about to expand in the Charlottesville area.
Bank of the James, C&F Bank and Old Dominion National Bank are all in the process of opening new branches in the area in the coming months.
Jared Feury, Charlottesville market president for Bank of the James, said the company started its loan production office in 2013 and was doing well so they decided it was time to open a retail location.
“We just started really hunting the areas that we knew would be high traffic areas where clients would want to be,” Feury said. “I think the days of the big, ornate branches are going away. It’s too expensive.”
