Mark Turgeon: Anthony Cowan Is 'Going To Do Great Things For Us This Year'

One of the first easily noticeable things about Maryland's 2016-17 roster is the amount of new players head coach Mark Turgeon and his staff have brought in -- six, to be exact, including five freshmen.

While last year's squad included seasoned, productive upperclassmen, like forward Jake Layman, guard Rasheed Sulaimon and forward Robert Carter Jr., this one is younger, less experienced and doesn't carry the same burden of expectations.

"I'm having a blast doing it right now. It's fun," Turgeon said of coaching his young roster at Big Ten media day Oct. 13. "The teaching part's fun, blending kids in, and the good thing for me is I'm blending in really good players, and our pieces kind of fit together, which is fun. Guys are still getting used to each other. We're turning the ball over a little bit more right now [in practice] than we will as the season goes on, because guys are just getting used to the system and getting used to each other."
