Terps' Talented Recruiting Class Shares Special Bond

When Maryland freshman wing Kevin Huerter committed to the Terps last September, he became the second commit of Maryland's 2016 recruiting class. Huerter soon found a direct message on Twitter from guard Anthony Cowan, the first commit of the class, who welcomed him into the fold.

Terps head coach Mark Turgeon and his staff would add three more recruits in Justin Jackson, Micah Thomas and Joshua Tomaic. When Jackson and Thomas committed, Huerter sent them direct messages in order to establish a relationship, just as Cowan had done for him. None of the five freshmen had played with or against each other, so social media was how they got to know one another.

Speaking for the first time at Maryland during media day Oct. 25, Huerter said the social media exchange was the start of a potentially very special recruiting class.
