The global law firm Jones Day has announced that the following seven Washington lawyers have been named to the Firm's partnership, effective January 1, 2017.
Michael A. Gleason, currently an associate in the Antitrust & Competition Law Practice, focuses on mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures, including complex cross-border transactions, and counseling on non-merger matters. He has represented a variety of clients before the U.S. Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission, and state antitrust enforcers, and he has extensive experience in a broad range of industries, including health care (providers and payers), pharmaceuticals, medical devices, software, chemicals, and food products, among others.
William G. Laxton, Jr., currently an associate in the Business & Tort Litigation Practice, is a trial lawyer who has represented clients in cases involving corporate governance, fraud, contract disputes, environmental liability, and other complex matters. Mr. Laxton has successfully tried cases to verdict in federal courts, state courts, and in commercial arbitrations. His experience as a Wall Street investment banker and his background in economics provide him with distinctive analytic tools.
Kristen A. Lejnieks, currently an associate in the Business & Tort Litigation Practice, focuses on complex civil litigation and white-collar criminal matters. She has litigated a broad range of civil matters, including contract disputes, fraud, and class actions. Ms. Lejnieks has substantial experience in antitrust litigation, including merger challenges, price-fixing, market allocation, product-hopping, and sham litigation. In her criminal defense practice, Ms. Lejnieks represents clients under investigation by law enforcement or grand jury, including conducting internal investigations and developing corporate compliance programs.
Dan T. Moss, currently an associate in the Business Restructuring & Reorganization Practice, focuses on corporate and municipal restructurings, bankruptcy, and other insolvency-related matters. He represents companies across a variety of industries, municipalities, secured lenders, unsecured creditors, and other significant constituencies in distressed situations, including in-court and out-of-court restructurings.
Yaakov Roth, currently an associate in the Issues & Appeals Practice, focuses on appellate advocacy and dispositive motions. He served as a law clerk to Judge Michael Boudin of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and Justice Antonin Scalia of the U.S. Supreme Court. Since joining Jones Day in 2009, Mr. Roth has briefed and argued multiple federal appeals, and worked on numerous high-profile cases before the U.S. Supreme Court. He has focused in particular on First Amendment issues, administrative law, and labor and employment disputes.
Christopher N. Thatch, currently an associate in the Business & Tort Litigation Practice, is a commercial litigator who handles a wide range of complex civil matters. He has tried cases in state and federal courts throughout the country. Mr. Thatch has particular experience litigating contract and mass tort actions, with a focus on construction, product liability and antitrust matters.
Ryan J. Watson, currently an associate in the Issues & Appeals Practice, focuses on appellate litigation, critical motions practice, and advocacy before federal regulatory agencies. A former clerk to Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito and D.C. Circuit Judge Janice Rogers Brown, Mr. Watson has participated in complex litigation matters before the Supreme Court, other appellate courts, and trial courts. He has been involved in matters relating to constitutional law, statutory interpretation, challenges to federal agency action, the False Claims Act, and legal malpractice defense.
The Firm named 47 new partners in all.
