Checking in at No. 3 on Baseball America's annual list of the top 10 Washington Nationals prospects is outfielder Juan Soto. Here are five things to know about the 18-year-old Dominican Republic native.
1. Big Potential At Age 16
Soto impressed the Nationals' organization so much with his potential as a corner outfielder that he was awarded a $1.5 million signing bonus in July 2015, which was the largest signing bonus for an international prospect in club history at the time. After his signing, Nationals director of player development Mark Scialabba said, Soto "is a natural hitter with good leverage to swing, size and strength. … You see upside there as a potential impact bat down the road, someone that is just getting his feet wet in professional baseball."
