Tilt Closes Blacksburg Outpost After Airbnb Acquisition

Tilt has shut down its small Blacksburg office after the Silicon Valley tech firm was bought by Airbnb last week, according to the company’s landlord.

The crowdfunding business which offered an online tool to help groups pool money was co-founded by a Virginia Tech alumnus. It previously reserved a suite for a handful of employees inside TechPad’s downtown coworking space. But property owner James Creekmore says they have now moved out.

A Blacksburg Tilt employee, Ian Good, told The Roanoke Times that he will not be staying with the company, though it’s unclear what is happening with the rest of the local team. A Tilt official did not respond for comment.
