Smith, Gildea & Schmidt, LLC (SGS), a regional law firm with offices in Towson and Baltimore, is pleased to announce that Duke May, V has been named an associate attorney at the firm.

May practices in the areas of estate planning and estates and trust administration law. At SGS, he will develop and implement individualized estate plans, including trusts. May will also assist clients with various real estate transactional needs such as contracts of sales, deeds, riparian rights, permit and licensing approvals, commercial and residential leases, business formation, operating agreements and more.

Prior to joining Smith, Gildea & Schmidt, May served as the judicial law clerk for all thirteen judges of the District Court of Maryland for Baltimore County. While clerking, he gained invaluable insight into civil litigation and administrative law. May has also worked for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency headquarters, dealing with state agencies and regulatory compliance.

May received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Baltimore School of Law, where he graduated cum laude and earned a Real Estate Concentration. He graduated from Loyola University Maryland with a B.A. in Business.

May is a member of the Young Lawyers Section of the Maryland State Bar Association and is an active member of the Young Lawyers division of the Baltimore County Bar Association.
