The promo for “Exiting ISIS,” a groundbreaking TV series about ISIS defectors produced by WebStringers for Alhurra TV, has won the Silver Medal for Best Promotional Program at the 2018 New York Festival International Television and Film Awards. The ceremony was held at the NAB Show in Las Vegas on April 10.
“Exiting ISIS” features revealing interviews with men and women who joined the Islamic State, became disillusioned with the violence, deception, drugs and sexual abuse - and risked their lives to flee from the organization. In addition to the Silver Medal, Alhurra’s on-air promotional campaign for “Exiting ISIS” was named a finalist for Best Promotional Campaign for a Documentary Series.
“WebStringers and our Iraqi, Lebanese and Moroccan production partners were proud to produce ‘Exiting ISIS’ for Alhurra TV and are pleased that this important documentary series is receiving the recognition it deserves,” said Daniel Gabriel, executive producer of the series and founder of WebStringers. “Season 2 of this series is currently in post-production and will provide further insight into former ISIS members who are returning to society.”
The New York Festival’s International Television and Film Awards honor programming in all lengths and forms from more than 50 countries. First presented in 1957, the awards celebrate exceptional and innovative programs being created today on all continents by the television and film industries.
Alhurra Television is an Arabic-language television network that broadcasts to 22 countries in the Middle East and North Africa via satellite, as well as Alhurra-Iraq Television.
