GEICO Promotes Maria Scarangella to Vice President of Talent Acquisition and Onboarding

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GEICO recently promoted Maria Scarangella to the position of vice president, with responsibility for overseeing the recruiting, selection and hiring of applicants, as well as the development of associates during the beginning stages of their GEICO careers.

Scarangella joined GEICO in 1985 as a claims associate at the company's office on Long Island, New York, and later moved to a role in human resources. She was then promoted to a management position, overseeing homeowner's sales and service, and later a unit that sold multiple insurance product lines.

Scarangella moved to California in 1999 to serve as human resources director for the company's San Diego regional office, and was later named director of service for GEICO's West Coast operations, followed by a promotion to West Coast sales director.

In 2012, Scarangella was elected a GEICO officer, and relocated to Tucson, Arizona, to serve as assistant vice president of underwriting for the company's insurance operations in seven western states.

Scarangella has a bachelor's degree in management from St. John's University in Queens, New York, and an MBA from Adelphi University in Garden City, New York.
