Fantasy Baseball Risers, Fallers: July 30, 2018

The Major League Baseball non-waiver trade deadline creates a weird dynamic for fantasy owners as productive players lose their value immediately, while others gain value. This also doesn't count teams that have decided to bring up minor leaguers as part of a rebuilding process.

As always, we'll need to evaluate everything on a case-by-case basis; we don't need to jump on every situation. Fantasy owners who are in contention don't have to acquire every young player who will see more playing time, but owners who are hoping to crack a top-three finish should attack high-upside players.

The other dynamic is fantasy football draft season is almost here, which is when owners start to lose focus. We can take advantage of that. I'm still convinced if you're in the middle of the standings in your league, there's still a chance to make a run with two months left.
