American Federation of Government Employees announced its endorsement of Dave Loebsack of Iowa for the U.S. House of Representatives for Iowa's 2nd District.

"We're thrilled we're able to once again announce our support of Dave Loebsack as he runs for reelection this fall," said AFGE District 8 National Vice President Gregg James. "Dave has shown time and again how he supports federal workers, their rights, and a fair economy; and we're proud to stand by him today," he added.

"During his tenure in Congress, Dave has shown an extreme dedication to working people in Iowa, and has consistently scored high marks on our voter scorecard," said James. Adding, "Dave stood up against the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act because of how it would rob federal workers and agencies while rewarding big business, has staunchly opposed efforts to privatize Social Security, and ensures our nation's veterans get the care they have earned at the only healthcare system equipped for their needs – the VA."

Nearly 18,000 federal workers live in Iowa – more than 11,000 of whom reside in the 2nd district – supporting the military, caring for veterans, ensuring the safety of the flying public, and getting Social Security recipients their benefits accurately and on time.

AFGE is the largest federal employee union in the country, representing 700,000 federal and D.C. government workers in all functions of government. District 8 has more than 10,000 dues-paying members in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
