Fantasy Baseball Risers, Fallers: Aug. 6, 2018

I look at the month of August as an opportunity in fantasy baseball as preseason football is beginning and many people begin to focus on fantasy football. This month is often referred to as the dog days of summer in baseball because it can feel like it drags on. Fantasy owners can take advantage by staying focused and making the necessary moves needed.

THREE UP:

1. St. Louis Cardinals First Baseman Matt Carpenter -- The veteran has been on a tear since June and it's continued, as Carpenter is batting .368 with three home runs in August. The first baseman slugged 11 home runs in July and now has 29 for the season. Carpenter entered June with only seven home runs and many thought the 32-year-old's best days were behind him. However, he has set a career high in home runs and is helping fantasy owners in a big way this year.
