Navy head football coach Ken Niumatalolo doesn't know if an undefeated American Athletic Conference team could ever crash the four-team College Football Playoff after Central Florida, which went undefeated in 2017, was left out of last year's playoff.

"I think it might open up where at least there's some consideration or some discussion," Niumatalolo said on Glenn Clark Radio Aug. 21 in reference to the possibility of an undefeated AAC team making the College Football Playoff in light of UCF's big season last year. "I don't know if it'll ever change, but I think maybe there might be some discussion. I think a lot of it too would have to depend on how that team did in their non-conference and if they won big over people and how those teams did against other people.

"For UCF to beat Auburn, [who] beat Alabama and Georgia last year, you've got to consider, 'Hey, it's not like it's some far-fetched deal where a team from this league can beat somebody else.' It kind of showed the quality of the type of teams and talent in this league."
