Optimism abounds as Baltimore-area NCAA Division III men's soccer programs approach their final week of preseason preparation.
Coming off a season marred only by a loss to eventual national champion Messiah and setbacks via penalty kicks during the Centennial Conference and NCAA tournaments, Johns Hopkins has been tabbed as the preseason favorite to capture its ninth conference title since 1993. Competing in the same league as Hopkins, McDaniel appears to be on the upswing following a 10-win campaign that ended with a bid to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournament.
For Goucher and Stevenson, the goal is to combine talented incoming classes with players who gained valuable experience a year ago in hopes of challenging for postseason berths in their respective leagues.
