Division III Women's Soccer Preview

Two local NCAA Division III women's soccer teams enter the 2018 season looking to continue postseason appearance streaks, while two others -- both with second-year coaches -- hope to begin a journey toward a similar level of success.

Johns Hopkins enters the year ranked No. 6 in the nation and as the Centennial Conference preseason favorite. The Blue Jays made their 13th straight NCAA Tournament appearance and advanced to the final eight a year ago. But Hopkins can't look past local rival McDaniel, which is in the midst of a three-year Centennial Conference and NCAA Tournament appearance streak.

The growing rivalry between those two programs was elevated last season by a pair of tight Hopkins victories, including a game decided by penalty kicks during the conference semifinals. McDaniel is picked third in this season's preseason conference coaches' poll. The two teams will square off at Homewood Field Oct. 10.
