Michael McDowell

Monarch Global Academy Public Contract School named Michael McDowell assistant principal. McDowell brings 15 years of experience as an educator and administrator.

“We’re pleased to welcome an assistant principal with Michael’s knowledge and experience. His skills with data collection and analysis will help us be strategic as we move forward, and his experience leading professional development efforts make him the ideal person to step into this role,” said Donna O’Shea, principal of Monarch Global Academy.

McDowell specializes in collecting and analyzing data to improve school operations and instruction. He has used data to build school schedules, determine strengths and weaknesses, guide leadership meetings and provide professional development for teachers.

Prior to joining Monarch Global Academy, McDowell spent his career serving in public middle schools in Anne Arundel County. Most recently, he spent two years as the assistant principal at MacArthur High School. He also gained experience as a school performance coach at Corkran Middle School and a mathematics teacher at Brooklyn Park Middle School and Annapolis Middle School.

McDowell holds an administrative certificate and a Master of Education from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Science in information systems management from University of Maryland Baltimore County. He lives in Linthicum.
