Zach Abey scored on a 3-yard run with 2:37 remaining to give Navy a 22-21 victory against Memphis in the American Athletic Conference opener Sept. 8.
The Midshipmen showed resilience to earn the win, overcoming a double-digit deficit in the fourth quarter for the first time since 2008.
“It just shows you the resolve of our young men,” Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo said. “I am just really proud of the way our guys fought. We did just enough at the end of offense to get the ‘W.’ That’s all that matters, one more point than them. Great win.”
