Laura Doolan Joins McDaniel College As Coordinator Of The Master Of Liberal Arts Program

Doolan, a McDaniel alumna, was the 2013 Carroll County Teacher of the Year

Laura Doolan of Westminster, Md., has joined McDaniel College as the new coordinator of the master of liberal arts (MLA) program.

Doolan completed an administrator I certification at McDaniel in 2016. She co-taught a course in the in the college’s graduate program in 2014 and is currently teaching an undergraduate English course.

In addition to her role at McDaniel, she serves as coordinator of curriculum and instructional resources for secondary English language arts for Carroll County Public Schools. As a former English teacher and chair of the English department at Westminster High School, she was named the 2013 Carroll County Teacher of the Year.

She is a National Board Certified Teacher and has served as a PARCC scorer for Pearson Education, as well as a reader and scorer for the College Board’s Advanced Placement English language and composition essays.

A 1988 graduate of Westminster High School, she taught at Charlottesville, Va., High School before returning to teach in Carroll County in 2004. She received a bachelor’s degree in English from James Madison University and earned a master’s degree in secondary English curriculum and instruction from the University of Virginia.
