Former Loyola Golfer Bennett Wisner Launches Pro Career In Style

Bennett Wisner knew he wanted to be a professional golfer before he ever picked up a golf club.

All it took to convince him was a couple of tickets to the 2007 Heritage Classic and an opportunity to meet PGA golfer Zach Johnson. A few weeks after that, Wisner's father bought him a starter set, and he hit the range. Now, 11 years after that trip to Hilton Head, S.C., Wisner is fresh off his first professional tournament victory and hoping to qualify for the Web.com Tour.

Wisner sank a birdie putt on the first playoff hole of the Coastal Players Tour event at Thistle Golf Club in Sunset Beach, N.C., Sept. 9 to beat Zach Edmondson for his first pro victory and earn $2,500. His putt capped off a weekend in which he was 8-under par with rounds of 66 and 68.
