It would be easy for the University of Maryland field hockey team to relax and reflect on a successful start to the 2018 season that has included eight straight victories, with four of those coming against ranked opponents.
It also would be easy for the Terps to look ahead to an exciting, yet daunting remaining schedule that includes nine more ranked opponents and foes such as top-ranked Connecticut, No. 5 Princeton and No. 6 Penn State. Maryland already defeated third-ranked Duke, 4-3, at home Sept. 2.
But longtime Terps head coach Missy Meharg will have nothing to do with resting on laurels or looking ahead. And if you listen to her players speak, it's obvious that she has made that crystal clear to them.
