
Navy couldn’t overcome several mistakes in a 31-30 overtime loss to Southern Methodist University Sept. 23 in Dallas.
After Mustangs quarterback Ben Hicks threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to James Proche in the overtime to pull within a point, 30-29, SMU head coach Sonny Dykes decided to go for two to put the game away. Hicks threw to junior tight end Hunter Thedford in the end zone to earn the Mustangs their first win of the season. The Midshipmen feel to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the American Athletic Conference West division with the loss.
