The Baltimore Orioles are in the midst of the worst season in club history and are on pace to eclipse the 1939 St. Louis Browns for the most losses in franchise history (111).

The departure of several key players from the roster, such as infielders Manny Machado and Jonathan Schoop, signaled that the Orioles' front office is thinking long-term and starting to rebuild the roster with youth. While committing to a rebuild can be an unpopular and lengthy process, there is a chance that in just a few years the Orioles could be back in playoff contention.
