The Navy women's soccer team already has proven it can overcome almost any type of adversity. Going forward, however, head coach Carin Gabarra would like to see the Midshipmen make things a little easier on themselves.
"We are getting the results we want, which is fantastic," Gabarra said of her team, which has won its last five games to improve to 7-3-3 overall and 4-0 in the Patriot League. "We have some very big conference games coming up -- we are not halfway through our conference schedule yet -- so as with any year, we want to peak later in the season and be playing very well on both sides of the ball. There are a lot of things we can get better at, and I don't expect us to be there yet."
Gabarra's teams have always made defense a priority, and with preseason Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year Alex Jackson and returning Goalkeeper of the Year Sydney Fortson leading the way, this year has been no different.
