A controversial illegal block against Navy nullified a go-ahead touchdown and paved the way for Temple to escape with a 24-17 victory on Oct. 13. The Midshipmen fell to 2-4 for the first time since 2014. That year, Navy finished 8-5 and beat San Diego State 17-16 in the Poinsettia Bowl. However, the challenge to rebound is more daunting this season because of a brutal schedule down the stretch.
