As the NFL trade deadline approaches, former NFL executive Phil Savage says the Baltimore Ravens could make a deal to acquire a missing piece, but it may be more a question of consistent execution from the talent already on the roster.
In what will be Ozzie Newsome's last season as Baltimore's general manager, the Ravens' offensive inconsistency has been a reason to doubt the team's chances of making a Super Bowl run this year. The Ravens' performances have ranged from a 44-point blowout of the Buffalo Bills Oct. 9 to a three-point loss at the Cleveland Browns Oct. 7, during which the Ravens scored just nine points.
Savage believes Newsome and head coach John Harbaugh may feel pressured to solve this problem by adding a high-level offensive weapon before the trade deadline considering the Ravens have missed the playoffs four of the past five seasons. The trade deadline is 4 p.m. Oct. 30.
