11/20/18

After rushing for 298 yards and a pair of touchdowns against No. 9 Ohio State, running back Anthony McFarland has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Nov. 19.

McFarland's 298 rushing yards on 21 carries (14.2 yards per carry) was the second most in a game for a Terp (LaMont Jordan, 306 yards, 1999). McFarland, who also earned Big Ten Rookie of the Week honors Sept. 24, has now rushed for more than 200 yards in consecutive games.

With his big performance against the Buckeyes, McFarland eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark for the year, currently standing at 1,022 yards. He's the 10th player in program history to reach the 1,000-yard mark in a season, and he's the first freshman.
