When former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Jarret Johnson played for the San Diego Chargers, he hated watching then-Oakland Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor jog onto the field. Pryor's running ability made it a tiring task to defend him, so the game plan was to force him to throw as much as possible.
If he were a defensive coordinator, Johnson says he would have a similar mindset when attempting to stop Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, who is now 2-0 as a starter while Joe Flacco continues to nurse a right hip injury.
"I'm doing everything possible to get him to throw the football," Johnson said on Glenn Clark Radio Nov. 21. "I am putting one more in the box than they have, which is tough because they're going to spread you out and force you to take guys out of the box. You're going to run every run blitz to force him to throw the football."
