TaRajah Ruffin, a senior safety for the Ballou High School varsity football team this fall, has been named the District of Columbia State Athletic Association U.S. Army Impact Player of the Month.
"It means a lot to me," Ruffin said of earning the honor. "I feel like my team looks up to me. I feel like I made a big impact on the juniors, sophomores and freshmen this year. This award means a lot to me this year."
Ballou lost, 18-12, in overtime Nov. 22 during its annual Turkey Bowl matchup against Woodson to end the season 6-6. In 2017, the Knights went 9-4, beat Woodson in the Turkey Bowl and defeated Friendship Collegiate Academy for the DCSAA state championship.
