With a chance to take sole possession of first place in the Big Ten conference, the No. 13 Maryland men's basketball team fell behind early against No. 6 Michigan State and could never do enough to close the gap. Down 22 early in the second half, the Terps cut the deficit to 11 with 5:43 remaining before the Spartans (17-2, 8-0 Big Ten) put the game away, winning 69-55.
The loss snaps the Terps' seven-game winning streak and drops them to 16-4 overall and 7-2 in the Big Ten. They will get a chance to bounce back with a neutral court game against Illinois Jan. 26 at Madison Square Garden.
