Freshman Taylor Mikesell and junior Kaila Charles of the 10th-ranked Maryland women's basketball team (18-2, 7-2 B1G) earned Big Ten weekly honors Jan. 28 for their performances in the Terrapins' two road wins.
Mikesell earned her first Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor. Charles was named to the Big Ten Player of the Week Honor Roll for the fifth time in her career and her eighth career weekly honor.
In two road wins this week, Mikesell averaged 13.5 points, with 4.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists. In her homecoming game at Ohio State, she went 5-for-10 from the field with three three-pointers made. She made two jumpers and drew the foul on one, as the Buckeyes tried to cut the lead in the third quarter. She finished with 14 points, three boards and seven assists in 36 minutes on the floor.
