University of Maryland head coach Michael Locksley announced that consensus four-star defensive back Nick Cross has signed a national letter of intent Feb. 12 to join the Maryland football program.

Cross, who attends local power DeMatha Catholic High School, is the top-rated player in the state of Maryland. It marks the first time the Terps have signed the highest ranked player in the state since Damian Prince in 2014, who Locksley was also the primary recruiter. With the earlier signing of four-star wide receiver Isaiah Hazel, the Terps have inked both the top-rated offensive and defensive players in the state.

Cross is a member of both the Rivals100 and ESPN300, and participated in both The Opening and the Army All-American game.
