For Maryland HC Mike Locksley, Experience At Alabama Brings 'Tremendous' Value

Mike Locksley has spent the last three decades involved in college football in some way, shape or form. He played defensive back at Towson State for four years and will enter his 28th season as a coach this fall after spending three years coaching at Alabama under Nick Saban, one of the greatest college football coaches ever.

Locksley was named Maryland's head football coach in December, and since then he's put together his first recruiting class as Terps head coach. Maryland, which went 5-7 during a tumultuous 2018 season, will look to Locksley to get the program back on track.

"One of the things that I've learned from the last three years is that winning is a byproduct of doing all the other little things, and that's what most of my energy has been concentrated on," Locksley said on Glenn Clark Radio Feb. 19. "Making sure that we have processes in place, systems in place, offensively, defensively, special teams, making sure that I hired the right coaches, making sure we bring in the right recruits. All those little things are the things that make the big difference in terms of the success of a program."
