Maryland's Bruno Fernando, Anthony Cowan, Jalen Smith Garner All-Big Ten Honors

Maryland sophomore Bruno Fernando, junior Anthony Cowan Jr. and freshman Jalen Smith earned All-Big Ten honors as announced March 11 by the conference offices. Fernando was named a First Team selection by the coaches and media in addition to garnering All-Defensive Team honors, Cowan was named a Second Team selection by the coaches and media and Smith was one of five players named to the All-Freshman team.

Fernando earned First Team and All-Defensive Team honors after a historic season for the Terps, ranking among the nation's best in a number of categories. The Luanda, Angola, native ranks seventh nationally and third in the Big Ten with 20 double-doubles and is 13th nationally and first in the Big Ten shooting 62.4 percent from the field.

He also ranks 13th nationally and second in the Big Ten with 10.5 rebounds per game, including a league-best 11.4 rebounds per game in conference play. He is also third in the Big Ten in blocks per game (1.9) and is shooting an astounding 82 percent from the free throw line in conference action (fourth in the Big Ten).
