Quick Hits From Maryland's First Spring Football Practice

New Maryland head football coach Mike Locksley was upbeat March 26 following his team's first of 15 spring practices.

"We're excited to be able to get out here and start spring practice," Locksley said. "We've had a lot of preparation for day one in terms of the offseason conditioning program. I told the team, this starts the second phase of our program, which is spring ball. … I'm excited about the opportunity to start spring, I know the guys are ready to play football."

Locksley said the adjustment of coming back to Maryland for a third coaching stint is "like riding a bike," though it's a bit different now that he has to focus on the team as a whole rather than just one side of the ball.
