1. Boston Red Sox: President of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski is a bold son of a gun. He thinks in grand terms, but as was the case in Detroit, he has a weakness in assessing what he has on hand in his bullpen. Not saying he should have paid Craig Kimbrel whatever he wanted, but there were other options far less expensive such as Cody Allen and Kelvin Herrera.

2. New York Yankees: Two expensive players who were just extended -- outfielder Aaron Hicks and right-handed pitcher Luis Severino -- look like they'll be out for a significant amount of time. The offense and the 'pen won't be problems, but the rotation will end up depending on three youngsters to prop up the staff: Domingo German, Jonathan Loaisiga and Luis Cessa.
