David Quam
Dentons, the world's largest law firm, announced today that David Quam joined the Firm as counsel in the US Public Policy practice. He will play a leadership role in Dentons 50, the Firm's groundbreaking multi-state public policy and advocacy solution service. He is resident in the Washington, DC office.
Quam focuses his practice on coordinating state and federal policy solutions, strategy, representation, and negotiations, presidential and gubernatorial transitions, legislative drafting and process, state government, and diverse policy issues involving tax, intellectual property rights, homeland security, telecommunications, e-commerce, international trade, foreign direct investment, the National Guard, education, Medicaid, regulatory reform, insurance, the Constitution, and veterans affairs. He represents clients before state and federal executive and legislative bodies, including the White House, Congress, governors, state legislatures, and federal and state regulatory agencies.
"David has a demonstrated success counseling clients in high-stakes policy issues in states across the country," said global Public Policy and Regulation chair Eric Tanenblatt. "His extensive experience will further strengthen our Dentons 50 team, and will add depth to the group’s capabilities to engage in multi-state government affairs matters.”
Previously, Quam served as a deputy director of the National Governors Association (NGA), one of the most respected public policy organizations whose membership consists of the governors from the nation's 55 states, territories and commonwealths. He was the NGA's chief strategist, lobbyist and political advisor on federal and state policy issues.
Quam earned his JD from Vanderbilt University, where he was editor of the Vanderbilt Journal of Transactional Law, and his BA from Duke University.
