Rules changes have recently been implemented by the NFL in hopes of making the game safer in the short and long term.
Bill Curry, a center for the Baltimore Colts from 1967-1972, was the president of the NFL Players Association from 1973-1975 and believes that the league is making progress in terms of player safety.
"Yes, we're moving in the right direction. We've got a lot of things in place that are already saving lives of players," Curry said on Glenn Clark Radio April 22. "The other thing is we're not going to stop playing football. ... Football is not going to go away, so we need to make it as safe as we possibly can."
