Dentons, the world’s largest law firm, today announces that partner Emma Hand received the Energy Bar Association’s (EBA) inaugural Diversity and Inclusion Champion Award during the association’s annual meeting. The award recognizes an individual or entity that embodies and advocates for the ideals memorialized in the EBA’s Diversity and Inclusion Policy, which encourages the active participation of underrepresented persons in EBA activities and leadership.

Hand, a founding partner and leader of Dentons’ Energy practice, advises public power entities, municipalities, large energy customers and load-serving entities, including signature clients such as the City of New Orleans and CPS Energy in San Antonio in both regulatory and litigation settings. She has extensive experience litigating before administrative agencies and tribunals at the federal and state government levels; representing clients in appeals from agency decisions and rulemakings; and counseling clients on energy efficiency and all sources of electric generation, including renewables and distributed generation.

Hand is a past president of the EBA and has served on the Board of the EBA, the Charitable Foundation of the Energy Bar Association, and the Foundation of the Energy Law Journal. She was recognized as a “Top Innovator” in 2018 by Public Utilities Fortnightly.
