Amir Hall has long since shed his self-given nickname, "Showtime."
It's a name reporters from The Washington Informer to The Undefeated have kept alive. But despite his record-breaking years as a quarterback for Bowie State, its origins aren't all that spectacular.
In truth, the nickname was high school cafeteria talk. Hall and his friends had just gotten on Twitter and were looking for names to call themselves. He chose "Showtime" during his junior year because it sounded cool, and the name stuck, at least until he graduated one year later.
